Obama says Megrahi release a 'mistake'

The US president has described the release of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi as ''a mistake''.

Barack Obama was speaking after the Scottish Government made the decision to free Megrahi, who has terminal cancer, on compassionate grounds.

Some 189 Americans were among those who died in the bomb blast over Lockerbie in 1988.
