Firefighters in southern California are continuing to battle three separate wildfires that have destroyed hundreds of homes and forced thousands to flee.
The fires, to the north, north-west and south of Los Angeles have burnt through dry forest, hitting suburban areas.
After visiting the city, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said it had been "a very tough few days".
