I just want to say that our society needs a lesson on respecting others I mean we are in the year 007 c'mon! This is the problem in our society people just do not respect others no matter what their colour or background is ... I think Shilpa is being bullyied in many ways not just coz she is a higher class than Jade. She is more respectfull than others in the hoouse. I think most Blacks and Asians, particularly first generation, know and acknowledge there is still an undercurrent of racism in the country. However, Shilpa has not been on the end of any racist abuse - yet. Racism, along with her obvious beauty and class may be the cause of her bullying, but the housemates are yet to expose themselves fully if that is the case. From what I've seen of the show (and the public will only ever see the most controversial clips) the issue is one of general ignorance not racism. The racism word is used too freely, in this case, it seems that cattiness between women is the problem which isn't a racial issue. Shilpa may be aware that she could be viewed as a victim of cattiness by the public and will be using that to gain support, she is clearly intelligent. The alleged racists will also have been made aware by their PR people that they will need to check what they say on air as they will have been advised that comments of any kind could be damaging to their public image. She has come from India to take part in a game show where in respect to her was for wider acknowledgement. She is in the house with some people that have a brain the size of a fish. Is the motive racial or just a group of girls taunting something they find a threat to them? The fact that Shilpa initially got and still gets far more attention from the guys can't have gone unnoticed by the rest of the girls. The introduction of Jade has changed the group dynamics, as has Carole’s eviction, as she was the link between Shilpa and the trio of girls. The likes of Jo and Danielle have come out of their shell far more than before, it is very difficult to restrain your "real" side for too long! I think the straw that really broke the camel's back was when Shilpa was overly domineering during the ordering of items when she brushed aside Jackie. Danielle stoked up the fire secretly to Jo and Jade by making her displeasure, towards Shilpa, very clear. Must say Cleo has done well to mediate and explain the gulf in culture between Shilpa and the rest, Jo has acknowledged that but when she is in the company of the other two girls she takes the back seat and does nothing to quell the taunts, she cowers behind the two! The clique within the trio is far too strong for a cessation in their behaviour. The lack of intelligence within that group is leading to basic school ground taunts and the fact that Shilpa's name is unusual as is her accent she is the convenient target, classic school bullies. However, there is no sign of racial bigotry, just nasty behaviour. My personal view of Shilpa is she is very attractive and articulate but lacks personality and is often very irritating.

Jackiey's defiant refusal to put any effort into pronouncing Shilpa's name was racism, whether she knew it or not. She seemed to dismiss it as not something she should be expected to manage as it's one of those funny foreign names.

The way the girls are treating Shilpa now is not overt racism, but it is bullying and they cannot cope that she is different to them. They seem to resent her poise, intelligence and beauty, and find any excuse to criticise. They find this easy because they don't identify with her, and that is partly because of racial or cultural differences that they don't seem to want to bridge.

Jees what can you say. Shilpa is definitely being victimised. Danielle and Jade have no talent and are very threated by Shilpa. They are also proving to be very two faced. What surprises me is how channel four does not concentrate on this bullying issue on big brothers little brother or big brothers big mouth. Its as though they chose to ignore the hypocracy of a joke that Danielle and Jade are. I hope the public pipe up against their childish behaviour and give them a hard time. There is no way there is racism going on in the big brother house, all those people who have complained have just taken political correctness to an extreme level. How come no one said anything about carol, dirk, jermaine and leo slating Jakie saying she was 'white trash' and calling the family scum, how come that isn't racism? How come when Carol was telling the girls to watch themeselves because Jackie is a lesbian and she would fancy all of them, that wasn't homophobia?? Why is nobody up in arms about leo saying the reason he left the country is because of the take over of 'lower class' families like the Goody's? Why is the only time anything is brought into the media limelight when some up herself woman is told wots for and then people claim that is racism?? Absolutely ridiculous!

I don't think this situation is out right racism, although i'm sure a lot of people have seen some of the footage were shilpa has been called certain things and bb has bleeped out some words were f***** is used as the second word. So there can only be a few words that bb find they need to bleep out and its probably not "ugly or fat" etc... i think the situation dores high light a number of issues....

Im an attractive asian female and I experienced the same treatment shilpa is getting when i first went to uni and joined an all white female household. Shilpa is defending herself and upholding the way she has been brought up, she has class and her up bringing has taught her to be strong, polite and friendly to all. Yes she wants to please everyone but wouldnt you being non-brit and asian in a predominantly british and white household. its a case of culture clash and misunderstanding and people forget that we are all human and that our colour aint a wall and doesnt change the fact that we all got to live together! 1st they say shes too posh to be in the servant quarters and now when shes doing all the cooking and cleaning now shes a pain in the butt! make up you mind haters! shes beautiful, talented and speaks better english than the natives! she aint gotta be a gob shite like jade to show shes not gunna take it either!

Shilpa is being relentlessly racially abused on this programme. It makes uncomfortable, unpleasant and disturbing viewing. Shilpa is an intelligent, graceful, articulate woman who speaks better English than any of the bullies in Jade's gang, and goes out of her way to be friends, but is subjected to taunts about her accent, her cooking and her name. That is clearly racism and the Channel 4 producers should step in to prevent it happening anymore. Failure to do this is tantamount to encouraging the unacceptable. People should complain to Channel 4 about it. It is ugly to watch. I can't imagine Danielle or Jade would be treated like that in the Indian version of BB. It seems that a lot of people in this country have been brought up with no manners and a predilection for intolerance. I think the only ones who have behaved with true dignity and kindness on this programme are Shilpa and Jermaine. Even Cleo is not bringing the others to task for their abhorrent behaviour and seemed to admire Jackiey for her ignorance.

Jackiey referred to her as 'the indian', which constantly singles her out from the others, Jo took the mick out of her accent behind her back, which is unfair seeing as English is Shilpa's second language. I would like to think that if there was racism taking plce in the house that CH4 would have the decency to do something about it, i dont think daniella and jade are being racist but it is very clear they have issues with shilpa and cannot resolve them with a bit of diginity. Jackie isnt racist, she is un PC, but that is a generation thing, im sure there are plenty of people her age of all colours that refer to people in a way that a younger generation finds unacceptable... also "this" country accepts all Races, find another country in the world that allows people to openly come out and attack "our" way of life and say how people should be killed?! I do think the girls (Danielle, Jade and Jo) are being typical - young bitchy girls. No one would ever admit jealousy. As for racism, not to sure about that! Shilpa cannot pronounce Dirk's name - is that racism? Also what about Shilpa and Jermaine discussing the fact that someone had said Jade's family were White Trash - Shilpa sat there with a smile on her face. Aren't they both "above" those sort of comments, even though they were repeating what someone else had said? I was a bit confused by Jermaine as Jade had told Jermaine she was of mixed race. I think Shilpa does bring a lot of the problem on this herself. She expects to be treated as she is in India - the show is Celebrity Big Brother - Not the Shilpa Show! Also when she accused Jade of not speaking to her (whilst she was actually having the conversation with Danielle),she didn't like the fact that Jade tried to reply and cut her off saying I don't like this, I expect to be spoken to with respect. You earn respect it isn't given freely, something all parties should be aware of.

Danielle is merely a silly girl who doesn't show any respect for the bollywood beauty. This is just another example of what happens when a group of girls are put together and given alcohol and similar incidents have occured throughout all series of BB. I watched BB in tears last night. It brought back memories of my school days where I was bullied by a group of girls for years. I feel so sorry for Shilpa - she has always tried to be nice. She doesn't deserve this treatment at all. I want those girls thrown out!

I think there is a big communication breakdown. Shilpa is obviously not used to people answering her back in such a manner and fails to understand that just because a person disagrees with you it is not necessarily a personal attack. Her cultural background and professional status back home means that she will find it difficult to fit in and be one of the girls and will not get their sense of humour. I do not feel it has anything to do with her colour, she's just used to a different lifestyle and is not as tolerant as she thinks she is. It makes me mad that nowadays if people have an argument on telly and the other person starts crying, they are accused of bully!! Who is bullying her? NO-ONE!!

It is a clear form of racism. Whether it is direct or indirect, you can sense the vibes. If you have experienced any form of discrimination, you will know that what is taking place in the house is very ugly and sad. CH4 should make a point of it. Shilpa to win!

I definitely feel uncomfortable about the way Shilpa seems to be targetted by these girls. If they have a problem with her that's fine but rather than discussing it on a one to one basis there just seems to be a group onslaught and the bitching seems to revolve around her being Indian i.e. her accent, her name, etc. To me this borders on downright racism and it will be interesting to see how the producers of BB will deal with this if it continues, so far they just seem to be ignoring it. We sholud ask ourselves as a nation would we have allowed this type of behaviuor on our mainstream tv five years ago? On Shilpa's part she seems to be taking it extremely well and showing great restraint and poise i handling them

The behaviour displayed is representative of the underlying racism that is still prevalent in our society, despite what most people will say. The behaviour by those in the BB house is due to a number of reasons. Jealousy probably plays a major role, but also fear of the unknown, which they are reacting to with hostility. Racism in this country has become increasingly worse in the last few years. People try to deny it or cover it up but there is no disputing the fact that it is occurring.

I feel really sorry for Shilpa. She isnt my favourite person in the house but i definitely think that she is the victim of bullying. People can be so cruel and i dnt get it. It seems as though they jump down her throat as soon as she says something.
