Ali Combray, 30, a civil servant from Brixton, said: "I think stop and search is good in areas where there are high crime levels.

"But only if it's done in a fair way.

"I have friends in the police who say sometimes it's hard to find a reason to stop someone.

"This can help. But it must not be abused or be perceived to be abused."
