Inspector Graham Weaver, 38, of Surrey Police, said: "To have these numbers of police officers who have come on the march on their day off shows the strength of feeling about how we have been treated by the government.

"The situation is made a bit worse knowing that there are officers in Scotland, doing the same job, who are getting their rise."
