Mrs McMullan said her merchant seaman husband was shot dead in crossfire during a gun battle in Belfast in 1972.

"We've waited a long time for this. It means we're going to move on with things. It means all these kneecappings etc will stop. Maybe we'll be able to get police to patrol our streets and bring back some law and order."
