Dubbed an 'underground folly' by campaigners it was built by Carmarthen District Council with a 75% grant from central government.

The authority no longer exists and the bunker was inherited by Carmarthenshire Council after local government reorganisation.

It said there were no officers or councillors left who were involved at the time.
