David Nixon's son Patrick was the first marine from Tennessee to be killed in Iraq. Speaking at the dedication of a bridge named after his son, Mr Nixon praised Patrick, the United States, and George W Bush.

"God bless our president for everything he has to go through to make this country strong," the bereaved father said.
