My life changed totally. We were a comfortable family and suddenly one day we were on the streets, in camps after my husband had been killed. I saw a Sikh neighbour being killed by the mobs.

Life has been very hard. I could hardly afford to care for my children. I could not even give them milk when they were young, so I gave them tea. It was that bad.

We lost all our respect and faith for Indira Gandhi and her party after what happened to us.
