The formative influence of Christianity in the history of the western world is to be recognised as well as the importance of other religions.

The zone will seek to explore the spiritual, emotional and moral dimensions of humankind.

There will also be spaces providing oases of calm and reflection including a Christian monastic cloister, a Japanese Zen garden and a formal Muslim garden.

The zone will have a striking architectural presence visible from within many parts of the dome.
