The blast was reportedly caused by a gas canister

A Russian, a Norwegian, a Hungarian and a Turk died in the blast which occurred near a restaurant at the Manavgat waterfall, east of Antalya city.

Initial investigations suggest a gas canister exploded, but it is unclear whether this was an accident.

Turkey has been hit by bombings in recent years. Some have been blamed on Kurds and others on Islamic militants.

Last August, two small explosions inside rubbish bins in Antalya injured at least six people.

In November 2003, more than 60 people were killed by a series of suicide bombings in Istanbul which the authorities linked to al-Qaeda.

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the Manavgat explosion.

The area is located about 100 km (60 miles) east of Antalya city.

Kurdish guerrillas have been fighting for a separate state in south-eastern Turkey since 1984.
