Suspected bomb blast in Istanbul
Scene of the blast in Istanbul
Police have sealed off the area
One person has died and at least 11 others have been injured in an explosion in Turkey's biggest city, Istanbul, police say.

Initial reports say a bomb was hidden in a rubbish bin near an entertainment centre in the district of Beylikduzu.

No-one has claimed responsibility for the attack but police say the blast bears the hallmarks of the Kurdish rebel group, the PKK.

The PKK and Islamists have been blamed for several similar blasts recently.

In August, two small explosions occurred inside rubbish in the Turkish resort of Antalya, injuring at least six people.

In July, five people were killed when a bomb ripped through a bus in the resort of Kusadasi.

In November 2003, Istanbul was rocked by suicide bombs at two synagogues, the British consulate and a UK-owned bank, leaving more than 60 people dead.

The Turkish authorities linked those bombings to al-Qaeda terror network.
