Meredith Davies and Kate Chester plan to buy a farm |
An agricultural worker from west Wales has won more than 2m on the Lotto, but spent a week unaware he had the jackpot-winning ticket. Meredith Davies from Drefach, near Lampeter, won 2,069,730 in the 16 October draw.
Mr Davies usually checks his numbers the same night as the draw, but forgot and only found he had won when a shop assistant later checked the ticket.
One of nine children, Mr Davies said he plans to share some of his winnings with his family.
He also plans to buy a smallholding with girlfriend Kate Chester, 33, but said he will carry on working.
Mr Davies, 32, had won a succession of 10 prizes on the Lotto in the weeks leading up to his big win, but had forgotten to check his ticket on 16 October.

He said: "I was in the newsagents when I asked the assistant to check my tickets for me.
"The girl behind the counter started to shake and said I should come and look at the printout.
"She then called her manager who took us, both now shaking, to her office and explained that I had a very big win.
"I was stunned when he told me how much I'd won."
He added: "I then called Kate, who I never ever call at work, so she immediately thought something was up - and she wasn't wrong."
Mr Davies said he would share some of his winnings with his large family in west Wales.
He said: "With that many children sitting around the table there was not a lot to go around.
"We were not poor but it was a struggle for my parents.
'Life's luxuries'
"Now I'm going to look after my family and make sure they have everything they want."
Mr Davies, who repairs tractors, ploughs and combine harvesters, set up his own business four years ago with the help of a grant from the Prince's Trust.

He added: "It's a good little business and I will carry on working.
"But the win means I will be able to afford one or two luxuries in life."
Kate added: "I was so shocked when Meredith rang to say we had won.
"It's always been our dream to have our own farm. We are so happy that it has come true."
Lotto spokeswoman Nikki Evans said: "They are a lovely couple and really deserve the win - we are all thrilled for them."
Mr Davies won the jackpot on a lucky dip with the numbers 25, 32, 33, 36, 45, and 46.
