Michael Howard became Tory leader last November |
One in five voters say they are more likely to vote for the Conservatives because Michael Howard is leader, according to a new poll. The group was split between those "a lot" more likely to back the Tories and those "a little" more likely.
But some 10% of 1,010 people surveyed for BBC1's The Politics Show said his replacing of Iain Duncan Smith had made them less likely to vote Tory.
ICM Research found some 68% said the change did not effect their intentions.
Iain Duncan Smith resigned in October 2003 after losing a confidence vote.
Mr Howard was voted in as Conservative leader the next month.
