Police interview

Steve Wright was questioned by detectives for eight hours, and simply responded 'no comment'.

He was asked how his DNA had come to be found on the body of one of the dead women, and told this was his first opportunity to provide an explanation.

Brother's tribute

Anneli Alderton had been popular during her schooldays when she had ambitions of becoming a model before being drawn into a world of drug addiction and prostitution.

Her brother Tom paid tribute to 24-year-old Anneli, mother of a young son, praising her intelligence, sympathy and compassion.

Sister's memories

Paula Clennell had allegedly predicted her own demise by the age of 25, such was the extent of her drug problem, but family members speak of a kind-hearted and loving soul.

Her sister Alice said Paula had always wanted a happy family life, far from the reality in which she had found herself.

Wright's route

The prosecution at Wright's trial said he had "systematically selected and murdered" all the women over a six-and-a-half-week period.
