Forest turbine inquiry under way
Wind turbines
The wind farm inquiry is due to last three weeks
A public inquiry is starting in Moffat into plans for a wind farm development in a Dumfriesshire woodland.

It will examine proposals by Scottish Power to construct 71 turbines at Harestanes Heights in Ae Forest.

The hearing was organised by the Scottish Executive after the local council tabled an objection.

Opponents claim the development would have a significant visual impact but developers say the scheme has been reduced in response to public concerns.

The inquiry is expected to last a total of three weeks before being adjourned until September.

It will re-open to consider the potential cumulative impact of the local development and the proposed Clyde wind farm between Biggar and Moffat.
