Dana-Leigh Trigger died in a one-vehicle accident

Two motorists killed in road accidents in the Grampian area have been named.

Dental nurse Dana-Leigh Trigger, 22, died following a one-car accident on the Inchmarlo to Glassel road near Banchory in Aberdeenshire.

And businessman and philanthropist Lynn Wilson, 68, of Northamptonshire, died after his car was in a three-vehicle crash on the A96 at Forres in Moray.

Grampian Police appealed for witnesses to both accidents, which happened on Wednesday, to contact them.

The family of Dana-Leigh, of Glassel, Banchory, said: "Our family are totally devastated by the death of our loving daughter, and girlfriend to Paul.

"Brought up in the Banchory area, Dana-Leigh was a well known and popular figure.

"Dana-Leigh's family and many friends are finding it extremely hard to come to terms with the fact she has so tragically and unexpectedly been taken from us and it will take a very long time to get over our loss."

'In shock'

Mr Wilson was known for the Northamptonshire-based charity the Wilson Foundation.

A spokeswoman for the Wilson Foundation, said: "I can confirm that Mr Wilson sadly died.

"The Wilson Foundation will carry on, the family are very much in shock at the moment but the foundation will carry on its work."

The charity aims to "give a helping hand" to young people in Northamptonshire.

After the crash, which also involved a lorry and car, he was flown to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by air ambulance.

A 38-year-old woman, who was driving the other car, was seriously hurt and was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin, before being transferred by air to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The lorry driver escaped injury.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to two young men who were at the scene of the later Banchory crash in a silver car, possibly a Honda Civic.

Both roads were closed for several hours while accident investigations were carried out. Police have appealed for witnesses.

A Grampian Police spokesman told the BBC Scotland news website there had now been 16 deaths from 12 accidents on the region's roads this year.
