The name Grampian TV is no longer being used in the north |
One of the most famous brands in Scottish broadcasting has passed into history. Grampian TV is now known as STV, the same name as the ITV station in the central belt.
Media group SMG, which owns the stations, said using a single brand name for both made commercial sense.
Several politicians condemned the move when it was first announced but the company said it had received hardly any complaints from the public.
Grampian TV had broadcast to the north and north east since 1961.
It served the largest transmission area in the ITV network and covered just over one million viewers.
