A very good programme. As for the body tattooing and piercing, my view is that when those people get fed up with their so-called art it seems that you and I are paying for it to be removed on the NHS. Now that is wrong!
Ian Nutt, UK

I definitely think this programme will help many improve their ways of dealing with their children

Suzannah, 16, UK
I found the story about the lady with five children very interesting as I have six children myself, one of which is a problem child. He is nearly 11 years-old and so far the only help and advice I have gained is to do with school. I have no home support at all - the star chart idea was a really good thing but does it work for all families?
Julie Pickavance, Merseyside

I think this new plan to help parents with child raising is a fantastic idea, as the main issue seems to be that many parents just haven't been taught what is best. I definitely think this programme will help many improve their ways of dealing with their children, but I think the emphasis should be on new parents, as there is only a short space of time when parents can really influence their children's actions and teach them what the parents believe is good and bad behaviour - the way the children should be interacting with their parents and others.

Parenting education and support has given many people so much help and relief and has created many well balanced and happy families

Family Counsellor, UK
Regarding the mother of five and her star rewards - this is as old as the hills. "Parent education"? What was all the chat about research?
Doug Holland, UK

I have a great intrest in tattooing and body modification. I am a psychology student and I am currently writing my thesis on body modification and the prejudices held by the general public on this topic.
Doug Holland, UK

This was a very good and positive approach. I am a parent group facilitator in Staffordshire. Unfortunately, the government message about parenting has given many the impression that you must be a bad parent to attend, that you have failed as a parent. From my work in the community, this puts a lot of people off, particularly those who would benefit from it. Parenting education and support has given many people so much help and relief and has created many well balanced and happy families.
Carla Thompson, Family Counsellor and Parent Group Facilitator UK

It's a lack of discipline in the upbringing of children these days that has lead to the social problems we have in this country. Children need to be taught that what they"'want" is always going to be secondary to what is good for them. I was subjected to harsh discipline a a child and it has done me no harm. Children these days have no respect for authority figures and until that situation is recitified, the problems will only get worse.
Gary, England

As a person with multiple piercings I believe body art is an art form within itself. The ethos of art is self expression, and through body art I channel my art. Please do not be so quick to judge us on our taboo form of expression or stereotype us. Many of us in fact are intelligent people who express art in a different more "hands on" way. Also, when we have problems we tend to return to the piercer in question and not rely on the NHS, as one person suggested.
Stephanie Goodeve (15), Wales
