Nicky Campbell has been a familiar face at the BBC since joining Radio 1 as a DJ in 1987. Aside from presenting Now You're Talking! he also fronts BBC One's consumer affairs programme Watchdog and co-hosts BBC Radio Five Live's Breakfast Show.
After graduating from Aberdeen University with a degree in history, Nicky began writing jingles for the Scottish independent local radio station, Northsound Radio.
He later went on to present his own breakfast show at the station before moving to London's Capital Radio.
From Paisley to Pop
In October 1987, Nicholas Andrew Argyle Campbell, as he liked to be known on air, joined Radio 1 with a late night programme on Saturday nights.
His music and chat programme was soon running from Monday to Thursday with guests ranging from the Reverend Ian Paisley to Iggy Pop.
Ten years later Nicky moved to Five Live, where he took over the reigns of the phone-in programme, engaging guests and callers in topical discussion.
He now co-presents the breakfast show each weekday from 0600 GMT and fronts the UK's most successful consumer programme, Watchdog, on BBC One.
Awards
He has received four Sony Awards for his work in radio, including a Gold Award in 2002 for coverage of the September 11 attacks by Five Live's breakfast show.
In 1999, he was voted Radio Personality of the Year by the Variety Club of Great Britain.
As a TV presenter, Nicky has fronted a variety of programmes including Wheel of Fortune, the BBC's Top of the Pops and Panorama.
Born in Edinburgh in April 1961, Nicky is married and lives in London.
