In a HardTalk Extra interview screened on 11 November, Gavin Esler spoke to architect Zaha Hadid about her visions for the future and why Britain needs to embrace daring architecture.
Today Zaha Hadid is one of Britain's most successful architects, with high profile projects going ahead on three continents.
But for almost three decades her ambitious designs remained unbuilt, some say because they were unbuildable.
Since beginning her career in Britain, the Iraqi-born architect has made it her mission to champion avant garde design in a country she sees as obsessed with tradition.
She tells Gavin Esler about her struggle for recognition and about her new projects, including the London Aquatic Centre for the Olympics in 2012.
