School sports facilities are to benefit |
School and community sports activities in Northern Ireland are to get a boost of more than 500,000 from the National Lottery, it has been announced. The New Opportunities Fund, which distributes lottery money, said the grants would help upgrade facilities.
A 26,650 grant will create a facility for pupils with severe learning difficulties at a Lisburn school.
Parkview Special School will use the money to convert a conservatory area into a multi-gym facility.

Wednesday's announcement means that hundreds of youngsters and wider community groups will be able to enjoy new and improved PE and sporting facilities.
The grants are awarded under the fund's PE and Sport programme, which aims to transform sporting facilities in schools and the wider community.
This 33.75m programme is the single largest lottery investment in education to come to Northern Ireland.
It aims to revamp existing facilities, build new outdoor sports facilities for pupils and encourage young people to stay involved in physical education.
Breidge Gadd, the New Opportunities Fund's Board Member in Northern Ireland, said the programme would "change the face of sporting provision in our schools and communities".
"This funding will help to create quality sporting facilities in which young people and the local community can take great pride and responsibility," she said.
