Lottery boost for childcare
Childcare facilities across the province will benefit
Children's playgroups and family centres in Northern Ireland are to benefit from almost 250m of lottery grants.

The money from the New Opportunities Fund will pay for new buildings and play areas across the province.

Childcare facilities in Belfast and County Tyrone will get the majority of the 232,000 funding.

A community development centre in Loughmacrory, near Omagh, will be rebuilt and refurbished with 114,000 of funding while in Drumquin, a 20,000 grant will create an outdoor playground for children using the playgroup and afterschool club.

A creche in a south Belfast housing estate will use its 98,000 to install a new office and kitchen and to expand its work with children and parents.

The fund's money comes from the lottery and next year it will combine with the Community Fund to become the largest single distributor of lottery cash.
