Dick and Dom won two Bafta awards for series In Da Bungalow

Fronted by children's TV duo Dick and Dom, the show is now back to the one million viewers it received when it launched, Wednesday's ratings show.

A BBC spokeswoman said the fall was a "blip" but they now are rising again.

But the updated quiz show has been accused of "pandering to the lowest common denominator".

"Dick and Dom's Ask the Family is attracting many more children to this slot than before, and the programme continues to evolve," said a BBC spokeswoman.

Controversial hosts

Presenters Dick and Dom - Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood - have proved controversial hosts of the Saturday morning show Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow, with one Conservative MP criticising its "lavatorial" content.

Last month, the show drew around 40 complaints following a skit which showed McCourt giving birth surrounded by gunge described as "creamy muck muck".

A spokeswoman said at the time that any complaints had to be addressed "in the context of the target audience".

The presenting duo were named best presenters at last year's children's Bafta awards, in a ceremony which saw also Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow win best entertainment prize.
