The offending sketch showed 'Dick' McCourt (left) giving birth |
The BBC has reacted to complaints from around 40 viewers about a Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow skit in which a presenter pretended to be pregnant. In the sketch presenter Richard McCourt "gave birth" to a dozen babies.
A BBC spokeswoman said the show was "pure fun and entertainment" and that any complaints had to be addressed "in the context of the target audience".
A viewer's complaint was upheld against the duo in August after they appeared nearly naked on the CBBC channel.
On Saturday's programme, McCourt lay on an operating table as buckets of gunge were thrown over his co-host and the show's six young contestants from between his outspread legs.
'Creamy muck muck'
The babies were then thrown around the set along with the gunge, described as "creamy muck muck".
But the BBC have played down the complaints, claiming the show was fulfilling "its remit to entertain children".
"Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow is one CBBC's most popular shows," the spokeswoman continued.
"It is aimed at 8 to 12 year olds, so it is unsurprising that it doesn't appeal to some adults.
"It gives children a chance to laugh and enjoy themselves at the start of the weekend, and we have many letters and e-mails of appreciation for the show."
In September 2003 Dom, full name Dominic Wood, was criticised for wearing a T-shirt bearing a suggestive phrase while hosting the programme.
Later this year the children's duo will present an updated version of classic quiz show Ask the Family on BBC Two.
