Sir Cliff first hit the charts with Move It in September 1958

The singer, known for hits like Living Doll, will play three nights at the venue as part of his Time Machine tour, celebrating 50 years in music.

He is already the arena's most popular act, ahead of Luther Vandross, who played there 44 times.

In addition to his 60 headline slots, Sir Cliff has played the arena a further 14 times lower down the bill.

Wembley Arena was built for the 1934 Empire Games, and originally housed a swimming pool.

After being used in the 1948 Olympics, it transformed into a concert venue - housing gigs by Abba, AC/DC, Madonna and Prince amongst others.

Sir Cliff made his first appearance in 1960, when the venue was still known as the Empire Pool, as part of an NME poll winners' concert.

His first headlining show was in July 1984, when he reunited with backing band The Shadows.

He has since played 57 concerts at the venue, culminating in a 5-night run in November 2006.

Whitney Houston is Wembley's most enduring female act, with 29 appearances, while Status Quo are the most popular band - clocking up 40 concerts over the past 40 years.

The arena also hosts sports events and shows like Dancing On Ice.
