Biking to the Dales by bus
Yorkshire Dales
Cyclists can enjoy the Dales without have to ride there and back
A special bus that takes West Yorkshire cyclists into the Yorkshire Dales is about to start its 2003 summer services.

The Bike Bus, operated by Arriva, tows a cycle trailer that can carry 24 bikes and was first used last year.

Services start this year on Sunday 25 May and will run on Sundays and bank holidays until the end of August.

The route links Wakefield with Kettlewell and Malham and on the way calls at Leeds, Bramhope, Otley, Ilkley and Grassington.

Bike Bus was initiated by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) as a way of encouraging people to travel into the countryside without their cars.

Andy Ryland from YDNPA said: "Bike Bus services offer cyclists the ideal way to enjoy the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales without clogging up the roads or having to cycle all the way there and back."

The Bike Bus will be parked all day in Briggate in Leeds on Tuesday 20 May for people to see it and find out more about the service.
