Residents get on their bikes
People are being encouraged to cycle in the Staffordshire countryside with the launch of a bike bus.

The Peak Park Bike Bus will run every Sunday throughout the summer and on bank holidays.

It has a trailer attached to it which carries up to 27 bikes.

Councillor John Wakefield, from Staffordshire County Council, said: "The Peak Park Bike Bus is the first project of this type in the area and has been made possible by funding from the Countryside Agency.

Urban areas

"We hope it will encourage cyclists who live in urban areas and who don't have a car to get out into the Peak Park."

There are pick up points in Biddulph, Stoke on Trent, Newcastle and Leek, which drop off in the Manifold Trail and the Tissington Trail areas.

The Manifold Way, Tissington Trail, and High Peak Trail, are 50 kilometres of segregated cycle routes, running along disused railway tracks, within the Peak National Park.

The bike bus will be launched by Staffordshire County Council on 20 April.
