Church deals with vandal threat
St Barnabas Church
Vandals have attacked the church
Officials are appealing for volunteers in an attempt to keep a Nottingham cathedral open to the public.

St Barnabas Church on Derby Road used to be open 12 hours a day.

But a number of thefts and incidents of vandalism means the doors of the city's Catholic cathedral have to be locked when no-one is there.

The cathedral is looking for 100 volunteers in an attempt to deter trouble makers.

They would spend an hour each inside the building every week.

Police and social services are offering to train volunteers to handle difficult situations.
