| Wednesday, 11 December, 2002, 13:48 GMT Comedian donates show proceeds
The donations are to be divided between several good causes, including the Christie's Against Cancer Appeal and the NSPCC. Mr Kay, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, said: "Life's too short, and it's always good to give a bit back." The proceeds from shows at the Manchester Apollo and Blackpool Opera House, both scheduled for January, will be donated. The venues have also agreed to donate their hire fees to charity. In demand Mr Kay, a former warm-up man for the Parkinson show, has embarked on 130-date show - all of which have sold out. Two more shows have now been added in Manchester and Blackpool to satisfy demand. Mr Kay stars and co-writes his own Channel Four show, Phoenix Nights, based around a northern club and its wheelchair-bound owner Brian Potter. He said: "The tour's actually called My Mum Wants a Bungalow tour, which is true, I am going to buy her a bungalow. "She'll be wanting the whole road if it keeps going like this, I will have to name it, the My Mum Wants Her Own Street Tour." | See also: 06 Dec 02 | England 23 Oct 02 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
