The World Today in China
Guangzhou - Guangdong's capital
Guangzhou at night
The World Today is in China! For the next two weeks George Arney has a rare opportunity to travel around and broadcast live from the beating heart of China's economic boom. There are more people living in Guangdong than Germany, and thirty million of them are migrants who have come to seek their fortune.

We want to know what YOU want to know. Put your questions to the farmers and factory workers, the migrants and the money-makers.

As we come to the end of our China trip George reflects on all he has seen, and ponders, should human rights be the main focus when dealing with China?

02nd November 2006 - Rural Journey
One member of our China team is Mike Innes, you can see him further down the page recording paint dry. He normally answers the phone, makes the tea, and attends to his presenter's every need, and today was no exception.

26th October 2006 - Friendly Police
Producer Mike Innes is part of the team traveling around the province of Guangdong. Walking and talking to locals, Mike got into a spot of bother with the Chinese police and was pleasantly suprised by their behaviour.

25th October 2006 - Capitalism vs Communism
It is interesting to imagine what the founding fathers of Chinese Communism would make of the country today, given we have travelled to a province with a booming, some will say 'capitalist', economy. However, as George Arney discovers, Communism is still very much alive in China.

Capital of Guandong

24th October 2006 - Seeing through fog
