African Performance 2009

African performance

The competition to find the BBC African Playwright of 2009 is now open.

Are you the next winner? Is there a story you've always wanted to tell that would be perfect for radio?

Are there things happening in your neighbourhood that would amaze, intrigue or touch the hearts of listeners around the continent? Don't waste time, write it down and you never know, your play might just end up being dramatised and broadcast on the BBC.

Prizes

If your play is a winner, it will be broadcast on the BBC African Service, and heard throughout the continent.

In addition the first place winner will receive a broadcast rights fee of £1000, the second place £850 and the third place £650.

Up to three other plays may be highly commended and the writers of these will receive a rights fee of £500.
