Go-go-go Black Stars. We, the Volta Regional Branch Supporters, are strongly behind you with our prayers. You will win for sure! From Dzomeku Jonau from Volta region, Ghana.

Sometimes I wonder why they say Africa is not united, take a look at the World Cup - the whole African continent is chanting for Ghana now. From Mr Marong in Banjul, the Gambia.

Football these days is not about big names. My advice to Ghana is to keep their cool, concentrate on the back, tighten the midfield and give the Brazilians a good run for their money. Do all Africans proud, we've nothing to lose. From Kaysong in Sierra Leone.

Hey you people! Don't build castles in the air for Ghana. Brazil is superior both in tactics and experience. Probable result: Brazil 3 - Ghana 1. From Edphe in Malawi

Essien or no Essien Ghana, we will beat Brazil 2-0. From Barnie in Accra.

If Brazil beats Ghana it's no news, but if we beat them it's BIG news. Brazil will be under pressure andn we'll beat them. From Ken Gyampoh in Ghana

I predict 5-2 in favour of Brazil because "however fat the rat may grow, it remains prey to the cat." From Balamaga in Kampala, Uganda.

The Black Stars promise to play their hearts out, to win and to unite the world. So help us God. Ghana will win 2-1 against Brazil. From Trouble in Ada, Ghana.

Black Stars don't panic against the mighty Brazil, instead fight with the confidence of uncelebrated David against giant Goliath. You must fire your shots at the Brazilian net - like David did his tiny pebbles against Goliath - and trust God to eventually push at least ONE past the Brazilian goalie... Gooooal!!! Africa will celebrate, and Ghana will rejoice! From Kofi Longmatey, Kitwe, Zambia.

Shine Black Stars shine. You're Africa's only hope now. Ghana and Africa at large believe that you can and will beat Brazil. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Don't fear Brazil, football is not about big names but excellent performance. I love John Mensah and all the players. From Maame Esi Sam In Tema, Accra, Ghana.

The Italian penalty against Australia was a fraud. FIFA is now an institution of fraud. Watch out for this virus against Ghana today! From Mr. Edet in Jos, Nigeria.

We should stop blaming the officials for our teams' miserable World Cup performances and stop defending the good for nothing professionals who only care about living in Europe and earning fat salaries. The truth is, the refs have been harsh on all the teams and that is how they've been directed to officiate by FIFA. We must start putting pressure on our stars to realise that it is an honour to represent their countries or we'll never have success. Poor Mama Africa. From Edward Luanda in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

No wonder Togo could not make it to the second round. It is hard work first. Reward and money later. Shame on you! From Ebrima Jarbo in Wellingara, The Gambia.

When has it become a crime to wave a flag at the World Cup? From Ben in Nigeria

I don't see the reason why John Painstil is called naive for waving an Israeli flag to celebrate a goal. He is not responsible for the Palestinian-Israeli conflicts and cannot be insulted for simply jubilating with his Israeli friends. He made no political comments nor condemned any nation. It could have been a South African or Fijian flag or whatever, please leave the man alone. An email from Joseph Kaifala

Why are the referees treating African teams this way? If they hate us that much then let them stop inviting us to the World Cup! I'm talking about the Togo v Switzerland match. From a texter in Nigeria.

Black Stars, you are the hope of Africa. You have all it takes to move Africa to the next level. Africa is behind you as you show the world a new kind of soccer. Our next obstacle, the USA must be crushed. From George in Liberia.

Football is a friendly, but the way referees are treating our brothers during this World Cup is unfair. Therefore we should boycott these matches. Bravo Ghana! Wave the continent flag high, we are proud to be Africans. From Sattia Oppong in The Gambia.

I didn't like how the referee of Togo's match yesterday officiated. He was biased against Togo. I expect Fifa to do something about it. From Eze in Potiskum, Nigeria.

Shine Black Star! I know you will get through to the next stage. From John Asem in Ghana.

I'm very disappointed by European referees, they discriminate against African teams as if they are not part of the world. I would therefore suggest that the World Cup be renamed the Continental Cup. From Ngarambo-Orombi Sisto in Nebbi Uganda.

I'm an ardent supporter of African teams at the World Cup despite their dismal perfomances. I do sympathise with France as well, but they meet Togo on Friday
in a must-win game. Am puzzled which side to support. From Robert Soita in Arua, Uganda.

The Togolese Football Federation must be cured before any other kind of competition. From Aladji Dauda in Ivory Coast.

Forget about the referee making mistakes because the errors become incessant when African and black teams are playing and there's a white guy in the centre. From Anunobi in Nigeria.

Even if the most racist amongst the officials do their worst, Ghana's black stars are winning the World Cup for Africa. From Jire Samuel in Calabar, Nigeria.

May God bless the Black Stars of Ghana for giving Africa her first victory and shame on the money grabbing Togolese players. From Peter Nweke in Onitsha, Nigeria.

It was very exciting to watch Africa's main hope Ghana thrash the Czechs 2-0. Kudos and live up. From Irungu Wakogi Mathare in Nairobi, Kenya.

The great elephant killed by europe's orange hunters, Angola came with something different, what will happen to the giant Black Star, Togo and Tunisia?
From Idris Dangalan in Kano, Nigeria

I am not impressed by the officiating teams in Gremany especially the way the referees are treating African teams. For example, While Jaziri was brought down in the box by Saudia Arabia's defender, the referee denied the penalty and he almost booked the whole Tunisian team with yellow cards for fouls which do not deserve booking. If the world cup is meant for Europeans, then why not call it European cup. These referees must be disciplined or the spirit of the game will fade away from the fans. From Dut Lwal in Syracuse, USA

Looks bleak for the African sides. I am now adopting Ecuador as my new team. From Ike in Lagos, Nigeria.

Africa's representatives at the World Cup are all doing well even though none has recorded a win yet. For now it's not a total disgrace at all because most of them are debutants. Watch out for surprises! From J.K. Gorman in Aba, Nigeria.

The display of our players is superb. It has been a poor start in terms of results but the comeback will be great. Trust me, Ivory Coast and Ghana need good marking. From Victor Biandoma in Sierra Leone.

This year's World Cup is full of unnecessary yellow cards please FIFA - Stop it. From Joseph Mpundu in Lusaka Zambia.

Our performances though interesting have been without purpose. As exemplified by Ghana, we lack the killer instinct. From Helen in Cameroon.

Eeeee, Africa! What's our excuse now? Slavery, colonialism, neo-liberal policies, the IMF, George Bush, war and HIV have all conspired against our being able to kick a ball around for 90mins? ! From Ama in South Africa.

Oh Africa! Will you win the next cup? You've done nothing yet so far. Cartor Tamba-Foya in Liberia.

Jaidi's goal against the Saudis saved me from what would have been "footballicide" (death from football match defeat) God be with Tunisia. From Iorwuazuaw Aliede in Benue state, Nigeria.

This is football or soccer time not politics. African players must the talents they are using in their various clubs. From Emmanuel Ford in Liberia

Africa will not have much of the action in Germany because big brothers like Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa are not there. Ime Sylvester in Lagos, Nigeria.

Since even Tunisia could not pick up full points in their first match the chances of having an African team in knockout stage seem lost. Africans will continue to blame Nigeria, Cameroon and Senegal for their lackdaisical attitude during the qualifications, they could have given us effective representation. From an anonymous texter in Nigeria.

Let me express my pleasure and gratitude to Togolese players for their fine first half performance. But all five African teams in Germany must strain harder to make us proud. From Riak Akech Thiak in Nairobi, Kenya.

Did you watch Ghana play? Africans have played the best soccer of the tournament so far! Long live Mama Africa! I'm proud of you.
From Nonvignon, a Ghanaian student in Dar es Salaam

I get upset everytime I hear so-called "experts", "pundits" and "analysts" attributing the non-performance of African teams to ''INEXPERIENCE''. Its not inexperience! We are simply not good enough because we focus on entertaing the crowd rather than the main objective of SCORING to win. Please, this mentality must change. From Michael Yaw Doe, in Accra, Ghana.

I am very happy with the performance of the African teams in the World Cup. In the past we have been criticised for indiscipline, but when Ivory Coast played Argentina, Didier Drogba was very patient despite the Argentine fouls. Akwa of Angola and Essien of Ghana also showed great restraint, proving that we can play a game of beauty and skill too.

Let every team follow the prowess of the great Cameroon on the world stage, rather than settling for the usual "at least we tried". Africa must prove herself more worthy of the slots alloted her each time teams show up bearing the honourable strips of the motherland. From Ernest in Nashville, USA

Terrific moment for African players in this World Cup, Let's support African teams. From Idris Dangalan in Kano, Nigeria.

My goodness! Can you please explain what is wrong with the Togolese national squad? Is it true their manager has discarded his responsibilites just before their crucial encounter? This is really sad and the problem seems to be worsening. Fans back home are refused visas to go to Germany, players clamour for match bonuses and the coach is disgruntled! What's next for such a squad is certainly defeat! From Israel Ambe Ayongwa in Bamenda, Cameroon

Cote d'Ivoire, you guys are doing an excellent job, I want to say good luck in tomorrow's game because I believe you have what it takes to make it. Not just because of the great players like Drogba (obviously my favourite) and Kolo Toure, but also because you have a great team unity and spirit, and that is something that most teams over there are trying hard to fake, and for them it's falling apart. GO AFRICA! GO!
