Ambassador Angélique
Angelique Kidjo
Kidjo is a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, drawing attention to the plight of African children
Angélique Kidjo is no stranger to the limelight having made her first splash on the music scene back in 1985.

The fiery Beninoise singer, who is now based in Paris, may be small in stature but she's got a big presence and even bigger voice.

She uses that voice to good effect. Ms. Kidjo is one of an increasing number of celebrity activists bringing attention to worthy causes.

She has become a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, highlighting the plight of children in Africa.

In that capacity, she's just been touring the drought-ravaged area of Wajir in northern Kenya where 70 percent of the population live below the poverty line.

Ms. Kidjo then travelled to Nairobi for her first ever Kenyan concert. Gray Phombeah was there and caught up with Angélique Kidjo after her show:
