| | | Glastonbury will be back next year following the success of the new security measures, says the organiser of the event. Michael Eavis said the massive fence and telling people they wouldn't get in has stopped people without tickets trying to sneak in. The festival didn't happen in 2001 because so many people sneaked in the year before, risking the security and safety of those with tickets. The bands booked this year have also been a bit calmer than before, with no heavy rock bands that make fans want to crowd surf or mosh. That has made things safer, and the fence has also helped reduce crime inside the site, down more than 50% on the last festival. To put the festival on the organisers have to get permission from the local council, and Eavis reckons that won't be a problem in years tocome. The festival helps make lots of money for charity, with about £750,000 going to charities like Greenpeace and Oxfam.
