  • Presenter on the rolling news channel BBC News and on BBC radio
  • Won the Nick Clarke Award for the single best broadcast interview of 2008 and the 2008 Peabody Prize for her White Horse Village documentaries about the transformation of China
  • She was a BBC correspondent in Beijing for most of the 1990s and speaks fluent Mandarin
  • Educated at the universities of Edinburgh, Oxford and Westminster
  • She has also tried her hand at running a restaurant and managing a small film company
