Tuesday 22nd May

Henry Williams of Clovis, California and also of Sierra Leone is not sad that President Obasanjo's last day in office is fast approaching

I am not a fan of either Atiku or Obasanjo. However, Obasanjo has slowly slipped to the lowest rung of the lowest ladder. Today he cannot go much lower than a Head of State talking about juju and his vice who he has dined with for years.

Farewell Obasanjo, your farm awaits you where you will be able to tend the next cows, chickens, eggs and ducks of state.

Monday 21st May

Mansa Musa Massaquoi in Arizona, USA draws the spotlight to the Common Market for East and Southern Africa foreign minister's meeting

This week in Nairobi, Africa's so-called leaders are on the verge of retarding the continent's progress by entering into economic partnership agreements with Europe.

Africa embryonic internal economies must not be sabotaged just when they appear to be making headway towards escaping from the shackles of colonialism, imperialism and globalisation.

If these deals mean Africa's undeveloped economies are left open to domination by the same wolves that now come dressed as partnership sheep, Africa and its diaspora must repudiate any agreement that aims to exploit or prevent the continent's development.

Friday 18th May

Okeke Izuagha is looking up, although he leaves us to guess where from

Please tell Nigeria that I saw her satellite last Monday night when I lighted my candle as I usually do between January and December every year.

Let them help me procure more packets of candles so that I can watch their satellite both on TV and in the sky.

Wednesday 16th May

John Vuni in Juba explains why today is important for the South Sudanese

South Sudan celebrates the 24th anniversary of the formation of the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army today, and two years has elapsed since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

With slow but sure work by the government of South Sudan, we are now enjoying the fruits of the struggle. With freedom, cross border trade is booming.

I returned a year ago, and I urge my brothers and sisters who are still abroad to come and join in the construction of our juvenile nation.

The South needs your expertise.

Tuesday 15th May

David in Sierra Leone is adamant that the situation in Somalia must be dealth with.

The conflict in Somalia must come to an end NOW. This is not a prophecy but it is high time every African contributed one way or the other to bring an end to this long-standing conflict.

This war started when I was a teenager, now look at me, married with children and this madness cannot stop.

As a peace loving Sierra Leonean, I am contributing in my own way to bringing an end to the conflict with the following suggestions: the AU must live up to its expectations by ensuring peace in Somalia, or rather be dissolved for failing the entire African Continent.

The people of Somalia must also accept the fact that they have suffered for so long, and face the realities of a civilised nation by stopping the killing.

All foreign troops must leave the country immediately and let the Somalis bring an end to their own conflict.

All other African countries, Western nations who are sponsoring the war through arms and ammunition must cease fire immediately and save the remaining lives.
