A fashionable business
African woman cover image
Sylvia Owori has added a fashion magazine to her business ventures
If you're in the market for some high quality African fashion you could do worse than pay a visit to the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

You may not immediately link the city with haute couture and luxury fashion houses but it is the beating heart of a small but burgeoning fashion industry.

It is all due to the entrepreneurial guile of one woman, whose Ugandan fashion business not only embraces advertising, modelling and design, but also exports it elsewhere in the region.

Sarah Grainger went to meet Sylvia Owori, whose creative force and business acumen have propelled this fashion phenomenon.

Sylvia began designing clothes when she became frustrated with having to import goods for sale at her fashion boutique.
