Speaking from experience
Kenneth Kaunda - Zambia's first president - has got himself embroiled in a row in the run up to next week's presidential elections. Not only has he backed one of the candidates, the UDA's Hakainde Hichilema, but he has described another one, Michael Sata of the Patriot Front, of not being of presidential material. Sata hit back saying that Kaunda was no longer influential. Maureen Nkandu-Mundea spoke to the former president in Lusaka and asked him whether, given his senior position in the country, he should keep quiet. Mr Kaunda has not gone into quiet retirement since he lost the presidency in 1991, now in his 80s, he appears fit and healthy, enjoys entertaining audiences with his singing. As you've heard, he also takes an active interest - some say too active - in current politics. So could this mean he'd like to be president again? Maureen Nkandu-Mundea put the question to him when they met in Lusaka. | LOCAL LINKS
