On Sunday 30th July 2006, the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo voted in their first free election in more than 40 years. For the successful candidate - the presidency - and with it a chance to unite the different groups that make up the Congolese electorate. Hassan Arouni spoke to Jean-Pierre Bemba about why he wants the top job? The favourite in the race however, was the incumbent ruler, President Joseph Kabila.
