Focus on Russia
Russia week graphic
We examine Russia's impact and influence on Africa
BBC Focus on Africa and Network Africa reporters have prepared a series of reports to illustrate Africa's relationship with Russia:

Today's report

Is this situation just a temporary lull, or might relations one day return to what they used to be?

From Accra our correspondent, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, sent this report:

Tanzanian academics share memories of student life in Russia

Alice Muthengi meets Elizabeth Amaseimoga, a Nigerian Student in Moscow

Ethiopia's Mengistu Haile Mariam received military and ideological backing from the former Soviet Union, but what of current relations.

Umaru Fofanah shares his experiences on board Russian helicopters during Sierra Leone's civil war.
