Thousands are fleeing the increasing violence in Abidjan

In Ivory Coast there are fears that the country could revert to civil war.

Gun battles and explosions raged overnight in an Abidjan neighbourhood, where mysterious insurgents that the local press are calling the 'invisible commandos' have risen up against the incumbent president, Laurent Gbagbo.

Hundreds of residents continue to stream out of the economic capital which is now the latest battle ground between pro-Gbagbo forces and those supporting Alassane Ouattara.
