Nigerians campaigning for President Yar'Adua to formally step aside suffered a setback yesterday when the Cabinet declared him fit to govern, despite having been in hospital in Saudi Arabia for more than two months.

Ministers were responding to a High Court ruling which gave them 14 days to decide on the president's ability to rule.

The lawyer who instituted the case was Faroul Adamu, formerly an MP for the opposition party, the ANPP.

Focus on Africa's Sophie Ikenye began by asking him whether the Cabinet's decision had set his campaign back to square one.
