For many years, Uganda has been hailed as one of the world's HIV and Aids success stories in the fight against the spread of the virus.

Those gains however appear to be reversing and at an alarming rate.

According to the head of the country's Aids commission, infection rates are steadily going up.

The government attributes this to a shift in emphasis from prevention to treatment, in addition to complacency amongst the population.

Free antiretroviral drugs, to combat Aids, have been available in Uganda since 2004.
