Uganda's parliament has passed a controversial land amendment bill.

According to the government, the new law will give tenants more rights and protect them against unlawful eviction by landlords.

However, even before the President assents to the bill, the Buganda Kingdom - the largest in the country and which has provided the fiercest opposition to the Bill - has declared that it will not respect the new piece of legislation as they see it as a way of eroding the powers of their king.

The BBC's Joshua Mmali reports from Kampala.
