After a series of reports condemning the Congolese army offensive against Rwandan rebels in the east of the DRC - an offensive backed by UN peacekeepers - a UN panel of experts has now concluded that the operation has failed and has led to a new humanitarian crisis.

The panel's report, which goes to the Security Council later today, says the region's mineral resources are being plundered and there has been a new surge of rapes and killings of civilians.

There has been little reaction so far from those accused of wrong-doing or negligence, but what about from those in eastern Congo itself?

Peter Ndoro spoke to Moise Nyarugabo, a senator for the party called RCD Goma, and first asked him what he made of the report.
