With so much emphasis on tackling Africa's major killer diseases such as malaria and HIV/AIDS, it can be forgotten that other, less reported illnesses, are also a threat - such as cancer.
This week, a conference on cancer is taking place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Not surprisingly, much of the attention is on smoking, a common cause of lung cancer.
According to Dr Twalib Ngoma, President of the African cancer organisation AORTIC, tobacco-related illnesses are becoming a major health priority across the continent.
