The global malaria community is gathering in Nairobi to discuss new ways of fighting the disease, including a possible vaccine.
The vaccine is currently being tested in some 10 African countries.
But how optimistic should we be?
BBC Network Africa's Akwasi Sarpong spoke to Dr Salim Abdulla, Director of Tanzania's Ifakara Health Institute, who is attending the malaria conference in Nairobi.
