It's a historic day for the people of Sudan as voter registration begins ahead of next year's elections.
The polls in Africa's biggest country will include, presidential, parliamentary and gubernatorial all key components of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
And the registration is particularly significant for the people of South Sudan on behalf of who the Sudan's People's Liberation Movement fought a 22-year long civil war.
Not surprising then that a party was held last night to mark the launch of the registration process.
The BBC's Peter Martell was there.
