The United Nations commission of inquiry will begin its investigation into what human rights groups say was the massacre of over one hundred and fifty civilians on the 28th of September.

The green light had been given earlier in the month, and on Friday evening, the UN Secretary general, Ban Ki Moon officially announced the launch of the investigation.

An arms embargo and other sanctions have already been imposed on Captain Dadis Camara's government by the African Union, ECOWAS, the European Union and the United States.

The international Criminal court is also investigating whether war crimes have been committed.

BBC Network Africa's Bola Mosuro spoke to Ben Dotsei Malor, a spokesperson in the office of the UN secretary-general.
